HPC Cloud Updates WE 01 Mar 2026
Updates to AWS, Azure & GCP in the last week relevant for HPC practitioners. Some confidential and bare metal variants of VMs and lots more types in more places. Oh and Google’s H4D is now available!
AWS
M8gn and gb are now available in bare metal
New Regional Instance: M8i and flex in California, Paris, Hyderabad and Sao Paulo, and also in Cape Town, R8a in Ireland, R7a in Hyderabad, C8i and flex in Malaysia and Sao Paulo, M8a in Frankfurt
Azure
Microsoft will be at GTC which is pretty much expected and not news really but they will have a Lego datacentre there. I’m almost tempted to go to GTC just for that. Almost.
Confidential versions of Intel’s latest gen VMs now GA
Google Cloud
H4D is now GA. Surprised there hasn't been more fan fare about this. Maybe it will come next week.
