HPC Cloud Updates WE 02 Mar 2025
Updates to AWS, Azure & GCP in the last week relevant for HPC practitioners. Not a lot going on!

AWS
Anyone that’s worked in HPC long enough will know the joys of having accidentally carried out a DDoS attack on another internal service as some code accidentally makes its way to every compute node AWS Batch has a nice way to allow you do that in a more controlled fashion.

EC2 Fleet can now add block device mapping overrides

Need to be sure your latest AMIs are in every region within a certain time period. Time based copy makes that possible now

New instances this week: f2 in Sydney, m6a in Paris, u3tb in Zurich

Azure
Nothing this week from Redmond
Google Cloud
Not much to report but if you happen to be in Austin, Texas on March 11th then you may want to drop in and hear about their plans for HPC in the future from Bill Magro
