Updates to AWS, Azure & GCP in the last week relevant for HPC practitioners. Quiet week, AWS FSx available in a few more places, faster SSDs in more regions on Azure and that’s your lot.

AWS

Another new region in the works, this time in Chile. AWS will be catching up with Azure soon at this rate on the number of regions they have

In the works – AWS South America (Chile) Region | Amazon Web Services
AWS announces plans to launch a new AWS Region in Chile by the end of 2026 with three Availability Zones, marking the third AWS Region in Latin American alongside existing Regions in São Paulo and Mexico, and bringing AWS infrastructure and services closer to Chile including AI capabilities while supporting data residency requirements.

FSx for both OpenZFS, Luster, NetApp and Windows FS is available in Thailand and Mexico. I’d past all the links but there’s 8 of them and I’m sure you’ll mostly just scroll past them so just check the what’s new page.

New instances: x2idn in Melbourne, inf2 in Korea, c/r/m8gd in Frankfurt. r7g in UAE, Calgary, Paris, Zurich, Jakarta and Osaka.
