HPC Cloud Updates WE 19 May 2024
Updates to AWS, Azure & GCP in the last week relevant for HPC practitioners
AWS
AWS’ own announcement on the launch of HPSF
New c7i-flex VM types. Usually flex instances aren’t of particular interest to HPC workloads but sometime, especially on spot pricing, they can work out as a cheaper alternative
Application load balancers finally support IPv6 so you can stop paying for those IPv4 addresses
m7gd VM types now available in Sao Paolo
m6id VM types available in London
S3 no longer charges for HTTP error codes! Big news if you’ve been following this story
Azure
Azure compute reservation planned end date extended
Azure ExpressRoute Gateway Migration now GA
Ubuntu 24.04 is GA
GCP
Cloud CISO perspectives from GCP and RSA
I’d give you more of an update but I can’t seem to persuade GCP’s release notes to show me anything past 2nd May… If that changes I’ll update this
