Quantum #18

Issue #18 of the weekly HPC newsletter by HMx Labs.

Quantum #18

I guess the big news this week is the r8g instance type from AWS. If you’re already able to run on ARM its worth a look. If you still can’t run on ARM maybe it may well be time to start looking into making your code CPU agnostic.

It was of course race week too with the Porsche Club championship taking place but sadly HMx Labs and Khanage Racing had to sit this one out with the car still being repaired.

You’re as welcome as ever to contribute, please drop us an email at [email protected] for anything you’d like to see featured or if you’d like to write for Flux by HMx Labs yourself.

How do you pick which cloud VM to run your HPC workloads on?

Which Cloud VM?
With almost 2000 different VM types available on the cloud from the hyperscalers, how do you select which one to use?

Will AI replace everything in future? Maybe. If it does though it will probably need HPC to run it

An AI Future Will Need HPC
If AI is indeed the future and we have many AI models, we will also need HPC to manage them
