Quantum #44

Well, we’re definitely well into the swing of things again for 2025. I’m not sure about HPC but the AI news seems to be dominating things even more than usual. At least it includes the AI infrastructure side (HPC’s better looking younger sister) and not just LLM talk though.

Speaking of AI, I figured I’d share some thoughts of my own. I can hear the cries of “stay in your lane Hamza!” already 🤣 but hey isn’t that the point of having our own newsletter. I still don’t think we have the existential threat scenario of AI but I think we have plenty of other very real things to adapt to and worry about which are already a reality. And that’s without opening the pandora’s box that is AI Ethics which I feel very unqualified to comment on. Start with Stochastic Parrots for that.

Thoughts on AI for 2025
I am in the fun position not only of using AI as engineer but also need to making hiring decisions in the face of tools such as Cursor and Devin. I thought I’d share some thoughts.

And bringing things back to HPC and the present a little, if you haven’t already seen the post about writing a scheduler selection tool, take a look at the link below. We need your input please.
