Quantum #64
Issue #64 of the weekly HPC newsletter by HMx Labs. ISC25 news, HPC Club coming fast!

Well, the most important thing last week I guess was ISC25. I have some thoughts of my own down below but given I spent barely a couple of hours actually at ISC proper and didn’t attend a single presentation, panel or BoF I’m hardly qualified to say much more! Hopefully Glenn Lockwood will provide a good summary similar to the one he did for SC24. Hint Hint.
I did attend a couple of great workshops and will hopefully have a bit of time to share more details on those later this week.
In the meantime there are several articles from HPC Wire or for a blow by blow account the #HPC hashtag on Bluesky works quite well.

The second most important thing to mention though of course is that the unofficial gossip catch up session for ISC25 is this Wednesday at HPC Club 😆. Plus, we will be talking about the future of HPC schedulers with a rather impressive panel of speakers.

In The News
Updates from the big three clouds on all things HPC. Honestly this was much quieter than I thought it would be. The output from the hyperscalers, much like their presence at ISC25, is somewhat muted.

AMD starts shipping MI350Xs

Jupiter misses Exascale (for now)

My thoughts from ISC25. If you’re looking for a quick guide on everything interesting that happened, this isn’t it.

Some thoughts on how HPC evolved in financial services with a take on how that is similar to what we are seeing with HPC and AI today
