Quantum #68

Issue #68 of the weekly HPC newsletter by HMx Labs. We do more than HPC… and we need to hire some people to help do it.

Quantum #68

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the only thing HMx Labs does is HPC. I mean it is all I ever talk about. And our website, despite having been updated not too long ago is rather incomplete. Yes that beta sticker has been on there rather too long, but hey live in beta right?

We do have other people at HMx Labs though. Some of them never even touch any HPC. In fact, we have a whole side of the company that’s really more about data. Yea we really do need to get the website updated with that. We’re working on it.

I bring this up now though because, just as I announced a few new members of the team last week thinking we’re done for the year, Kamran tells me we’re going to need to hire one or maybe two people. He and I will put out a job spec (in HMx style) this week with a bit of luck but if you know the pointy end of an IDE, ChatGPT hasn’t rotted your brain and data is your thing, time to start sharpening your CV.

Oh, yea sorry, this is supposed to be your weekly HPC newsletter! Well its kinda one side of that coin right? Fear not, rest of the real HPC news is below

Registration for SC25 is now open. I still haven’t figured out what we’re going to do. I’m literally having conversations about burner phones and laptops and the possibility of being detained by ICE if we have to attend. A year ago a sentence like that could only have meant travel to North Korea or maybe Russia or China. Anyone actually expecting us to be there or can we sit this one out?
