Today’s edition of weekly HPC news come to you from Geneva (well near Geneva anyway) via Paris for a quick catchup with the French HPC contingent. I’ll be testing my ability to work remotely over the next few weeks, or perhaps I should say that my wife will be testing my ability to continue to work even from remote locations as she plans excursions that in forests and caves so that even Starlink won’t keep me connected 😆. Some disruption to normal service may occur.

In the meantime, though here’s your usual weekly roundup of HPC news… oh and a picture the view from HMx Labs On Wheels over the weekend 😄

HPC Cloud Release Notes

The Next Platform has some insight into how much of the hypersclars revenues come from renting hardware versus other value add services (such as AI these days). To me this is more interesting from a perspective of, what are the hyperscalers doing to prevent their evolution into the next commodity (like electricity or mobile data)… and will they be successful.

If you’re one of the many financial institutions still locked into Intel CPUs, the latest episode in the soap opera should at the very least be prompting you to start thinking about what you do about that. Don’t worry we’re thinking about it too. More to come soon.

Put on your favourite Katy Perry track (it will probably take you about that long to read this), grab your preferred beverage and have a read of Dr Cuff taking aim at an of neglected topic in HPC

A bit light in this section this week… HPC Club Lite in Paris. Blink and you missed it though! We’re working on some long form content which… there may continue to be disruption to the normal service in this section but I promise it will be worth it!
