Quantum #79
Issue #79 of the weekly HPC newsletter by HMx Labs. New techniques in liquid cooling, what’s the HPC market worth, HPC Club update if you missed it and Barcelona Supercomputing Centre.

Don’t you just hate it when, just as you’ve thought you’ve finished some work, to discover a problem with it. As you’re about to push it out the door you end up spending the weekend having to fix it. Not that it would even happen to me you understand. There’s no way I’d have to delay getting my kids’ bedroom ready because I was working over the weekend 😁 (the radiator is up on the wall at least).
This week was a bit quieter in HPC than last, but I guess that’s not saying much! We seem to have a bit of noise around improved liquid cooling; Google gave us a way to spin up VMs when they become available which seems nice if you’re stuck waiting for the latest GPU I guess.
I’ll be in Barcelona this week attempting my best to level up to being an HPC Leader :D Give me a shout if you’re around and want to grab a coffee. More importantly though, if you didn’t already know, Barcelona Supercomputing Centre is in a 19th century church. I love the juxtaposition.
