Quantum #82

Issue #82 of the weekly HPC newsletter by HMx Labs. Benchmarks and numerical stability across CPUs coupled with Quant Minds. HPC and Dinosaurs. SMT/HT on or off. So much to talk about this week.

Quantum #82

Wow work got busy this week. Partly, it’s the day job but also, I think I really underestimated how much work it will be to speak at Quant Minds next month! We’re busy running an insane number of benchmarks across hundreds of cloud VMs (again) to have hard data to support what I’ll be talking about. And speaking to several partners and clients for input too.

Of course, none of that matters without looking at numerical stability as you move from CPU to another, so we’ll get stuck into that too.

Excited but also very scary. Anyone got any tips for public speaking in front of large audiences?

Oh, and if you’ve got a few favourite flavours of cloud compute you want to see us include, let me know.

You can tell SC25 and re:Invent are coming up, the cloud HPC releases are ticking up! Details in the first link below as is the rest of your HPC news from last week.

Easily the most fun HPC story this week. I mean it involves dinosaurs and its not even me levelling that as an insult at HPC for once! 😆

From HMx Labs

Do you run your HPC workloads with SMT/HT enabled or not? The answer is not as simple as you may think.
