HPC Club #3 Future of Schedulers: Book Your Spot

Schedulers form the backbone of high performance computing (HPC) but how happy are you with yours? How much of what you want from a scheduler does it do?

Most technology over the last 20 years has become more complex but also more capable. Whether its infrastructure moving from physical machines to virtual machines to containers to Kubernetes and Serverless or front end frameworks going from OS specific boxy toolkits to multiple beautiful OS agnostic frameworks both in and outside your browser.

HPC schedulers on the other hand have had a more complex arc. We have of course had an increase in capability and complexity but at the same time, particularly with the move to cloud, we’ve a rise in simpler alternatives to in the form of AWS/Azure Batch. All whilst other distributed computing based tech stacks such as Kubernetes also try and eat your HPCs scheduler’s lunch.

It is, to my mind at least, one of the hardest areas of the tech world to attempt a prediction of what comes next. The outsized influence and demand for compute from AI only skews things further.

So why guess? Instead, why not join five leaders and experts from Altair, Aneo, AWS, IBM and YellowDog and little ol me in a panel discussion at HPC Club. Find out what they’re thinking, get answers to your questions and make sure they know what you need.

Massive thank you to Alan Parry, Alex Kimber, Ed Whelan, Roman Chwyl and Wilfred Kirschenmann for agreeing to participate.

Oh and as a bonus Roman HPChywl has even agreed to attend coiffed as Noel Gallagher and regale us with his rendition of Wonderwall 😁

You can book your place now and see more details on the HPC Club website. As always HPC Club is open to anyone working in, studying or just interested in HPC. In order to enable our panellists to attend we have had to exclude anyone working in the press from this event. Sorry!
